South Pier Approved for Brownfields Tax Credits

Gov. Matt Blunt announced South Pier LLC, has been approved for up $228,736 in remediation tax credits through the Brownfield Redevelopment Program. The tax credits will be utilized to facilitate the redevelopment of property located at 317 South Ave. into commercial office space, retail and residential lofts.

Jordan Valley Park: Industrial Corridor To Community Park

The Jordan Valley Corridor, a 300-acre, former industrial area in downtown Springfield, Missouri, was an underused stretch of land. Where factories and used-car dealerships once stood, there is now a 12-acre public park and an ice arena, with an arts center, an Exposition Center, and a minor league baseball stadium underway. > read the full story (426k PDF)

$50,000 EPA Grant Helps Commercial Street Go Green

July 2008 – Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt announced that the US Environmental Protection Agency has selected a local Springfield project as the recipient of a major new grant. The project, part of Springfield’s Commercial Street Historic District continuing efforts to “go green,” will include $50,000 of technical assistance aimed at helping revitalize the area with the newest and most innovative green technologies available. > read the full story

$200,000 EPA Cleanup Grant Awarded

April 2008 – EPA has selected the City of Springfield for a brownfields cleanup grant. Hazardous substances grant funds will be used to clean up the West Meadows of Jordan Valley Park site at 725 West Olive Street. The currently vacant site was used as a rail yard. Site soil and shallow groundwater are contaminated with polynuclear aromatic hydrocar-bons, metals, and volatile organic compounds. > read the full story (300k PDF)

Springfield Awarded $1.2 Million EPA Grants

May 2007 – The Cities of Springfield and Aurora will split a $400,000 EPA grant to assess hazardous waste sites in the two cities, and $1 million will establish a revolving loan fund to generate cleanup and redevelopment activities in Springfield’s center city. The EPA funding is part of the annual Brownfields Grants which will send $71 million to 200 cities to help revitalize former industrial and commercial sites. > read the full story

Blunt Announces $820,000 in Brownfield Redevelopment Tax Credits
